SERVICE
SERVICE AND THE FCMA

Through organized service opportunities, the FCMA unifies its members while providing service to deserving organizations or individuals. Over the past year, the FCMA Service Committee organized several diverse service projects that brought members together on behalf of Primary Children's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and Shriners Hospital.

SERVING PRIMARY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Members of the FCMA volunteered to answer phones for the Primary Children's Medical Center KSL Radiothon. Over the two-day event callers pledged varying amounts--great and small--all in an effort to help the kids at Primary Children's. Each FCMA volunteer who participated expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. One member had such a great experience that he volunteered to serve on the service committee to plan future projects. FCMA Director of Community Service Tammy Simister Robinson said, "the most memorable moment for me was watching an 11 year old girl unselfishly hand over a $1,000 check she had won in a cooking contest. What an example to me! She donated her entire earnings to the kids at Primary Children's."

SERVING SHRINERS HOSPITAL
At the FCMA Family Service Social an enthusiastic group of members and their families assembled at a nearby church to cut and tie brightly colored fleece blankets for the children at Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City. This enjoyable activity required no previous experience or sewing skills. Everyone was able to participate as we assembled one dozen double-sided, cheery blankets for young patients at the hospital. Both blankets and friendships were made that day as members and their families enjoyed the chance to socialize outside of our usual music industry settings.

SERVING HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
With the help of FCMA members and their friends we were able to collectively donate over 60 hours to lend a hand to the Habitat for Humanity organization in Provo. Outside work on the Habitat home included roofing and siding while several of our members worked on the inside, sweeping away dirt and construction debris.

SERVING WITH MUSIC
An amazing concert to benefit Shriners Hospital was held at the Noni Building in Provo, bringing together a talented group of FCMA member artists. Master of Ceremonies Steven Kapp Perry demonstrated his expert radio host skills as he kept things moving smoothly throughout the evening. Concert-goers enjoyed the talents of April Meservy, Nancy Hanson, Sam Payne and Cheri Call. The combined talent of these four artists kept the audience entertained for more than two hours.

A special young man who had benefited from treatment at Shriners Hospital charmed the audience with an energized positive outlook as he easily demonstrated the ability to run using his prosthetic leg. Along with concert admission proceeds, new clothing items were also donated to Shriners Hospital.

In the future, our membership can expect more benefit concerts and new ways to serve our community. The service arm of the FCMA will continue to expand as we reach out to lift those in need and inspire unity within our association.
